Time for a Summer of Boating with Spirit Marine

| Spirit Marine

Queensland is easily one of the ideal locations for those who love the thrill of boating and fishing in the deep sea. With more than 7,000 kilometres of coastland to explore, Queensland, and especially its Gold Coast region, makes for the perfect summertime adventure.

At the heart of the experience is Spirit Marine, one of the leading boutique brokers of sailing and motorized vessels. You are ready for a summer of exploration on the open water, and Spirit Marine has the boats and recreational vehicles you need to make the most out of it. What trip will you take on first?

The lifestyle of boating in Queensland

Why make this the year of time spent on the waterways and open waters of the ocean? Select your vessel, route a path that takes you throughout the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and surrounding areas, perhaps into some of the inland rivers, and capture the best fish in the region while doing so. Consider some of what you could experience along the way.

Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Waterways are exciting, hidden gems of exploration for anyone on a sailing journey (whether this is your first or 10th!) The entire area is quite naturally beautiful. The canal network spans 136 individual lakes and more than 400 km of canals, and every trip you take will be slightly different from what you see and explore here. For those setting sail for the first time in Australian waters, there is no better destination to explore.

Consider, for example, the surf breaks known worldwide for their intensity. For sunbathing enjoyment at its finest, there are 52 km of incredible beaches, as well as 10 full marinas, to allow you to dock and relax as you explore those beaches. If you want to engage in some onshore fun during your boating adventure, the Gold Coast offers natural parks, waterparks, thrill parks, numerous shopping and luxury dining areas, and historical treasures to explore.

The most challenging part of this adventure is narrowing down which of these exciting opportunities you will take in on your first trip. You will quickly start planning your second seafaring trip as soon as this one ends.

Moreton Bay

There may not be anything more magnificent than the anchorages off Moreton Island, especially the areas of Sand Hills, Days Gutter, and Tangalooma Wrecks. As you cruise into the area’s northern region, you’ll come to St. Helena and North Stradbroke, where fishing seems to always be good, according to the locals and the mariners for the season.

Boat into the island’s western side to Myora, perhaps the most tranquil of all areas in this region. It offers a freshwater spring that’s quite inviting. Get your feet in the sand at Horseshoe Bay while visiting the southern area of Peel Island next. For boating lovers, Moreton Bay is one of the most interesting and serene locations to explore. With numerous marinas to explore and always a calm breeze in your sail, it’s easy to relax away from the summer here.

Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is mesmerizing at first glance. The beautiful waters, sandy beaches, and dramatic cliffs and peaks make for such a striking view. It’s also the ideal location for a laid-back lifestyle, one that offers natural delights and experiences of all types. With about 100 km of coastline to explore and hikes through the Glass House Mountains, if you dare, there’s an adventure here for anyone.

A fantastic reason to visit is Noosa, a location known around the world for its sophisticated seaside village that almost seems as if you are travelling back in time. For bigger city lifestyle exploration, stop off at Maroochydore. Many will also want to pass through the Punicestone Passage. This passage cuts between the Queensland mainland and Bribie Island. If you visit during the warmer months, you’ll likely see whales breaching. The fishing in this area is fantastic as well, even for the seasoned deep-sea angler.

K’Gari (Fraser Island) K’Gari

Every person sailing the region must experience the incredibly diverse landscapes and wildlife of K’gari, also known as Fraser Island. This is a World Heritage site, a true sand island situated in the southeastern portion of the wide Bay-Burnett area. It’s about 360km from Brisbane but worlds away in every other manner.

Stop off at the marina here to explore the beaches and sandblows. The water is shimmering with life. A few holiday resorts are here as well, but you may find it even more adventurous to explore wilderness camping. From 4WD tracks down the white sand beaches to swimming in the essential oil-infused lake (that’s where natural tea tree oil is known to come from), there’s a wonderland to explore here.

North Queensland and Great Barrier Reef

For those just exploring Queensland for the first time, it may be the Great Barrier Reef that has called you into the region. It is fascinating and often referred to as the world’s most important underwater ecological system. If you plan your entire summer here, you’ll have only a fraction of the time necessary to explore the entire area.

Snorkelling and scuba-diving are the most popular ways to explore the underwater world. You can also take a kayak tour, consider helmet diving if you’re brave, or explore the area from the edge of your boat, fishing line cast in front of you.

As you explore this area, take in Divers Den, Fitzroy Island, and the beauty of Trinity Beach, Cairns Beach, and Palm Cove, which are easily recognized as some of the area’s very best places to be.
