I’m Peter Nicholson, an experienced racing and cruising yachtsman and the Managing director for Spirit marine QLD. Based on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
I have been actively involved in the marine industry for more than 15 years, marketing Australian-built vessels to national and international clients and I successfully managed the production and sale of a number of different Australian brand vessels into China, New Zealand, USA and The Middle East. Today we represent world best brand products from Beneteau and other leading manufacturers. Additionally, I have raced my own racing yachts extensively on the East Coast of Australia for a number of years, competed in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race a number of times and been a crew member on two America’s Cup Challenges aboard Gretel 11.

Hello, I’m Peter Moloney, a seasoned Broker at Spirit Marine Queensland with a wealth of experience dating back to the mid-’90s. Throughout my career, I’ve honed my expertise across all fields, with a particular focus on commercial and sailing vessels.
In the adventurous ’80s, I navigated the world’s oceans as an ‘old salt,’ accumulating over 50,000 nautical miles in seven years. My career and adventures at sea have provided me with hands-on experience with all vessel types, including timber, alloy, steel, and composites.
My passion lies in utilizing my hard-earned knowledge to assist clients in finding the perfect vessel that aligns with their needs. I find immense satisfaction in sharing my insights and expertise to ensure a seamless and informed decision-making process for every client.

Hi, I’m Jasmine Ruck, Broker for Spirit Marine Queensland,
I had a typical introduction to the sailing and boating industry by my father who fostered my love for sailing and yacht racing. My father purchased an old IOR ex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race competitor Drakes Prayer, a Farr 43. With what started as a novelty hobby joining my dad for a day out on the boat, very quickly steam-rolled into an obsession for sailing.
This year, I was honoured to be offered a berth aboard the Young Endeavor Youth Scheme’s Tall Ship training program, where we departed from Hobart and voyaged across the Southern Ocean to arrive in Adelaide 11 days later. Witnessing the Southern lights from the decks of a square rigger is certainly in the top 3 highlights of my career so far!
I am also involved with the sailing academy at Southport Yacht Club, where I teach sailing to the youth, fostering the same love and excitement of sailing that I experience, for hopefully generations to come. In 2022, I developed a training program targeted specifically for women. The She Sails program out of Southport Yacht Club was introduced to promote and encourage participation amongst women in the sport and foster progression in their sailing ability.
Most recently, I was awarded the Queensland Winner in the 2023 Australian Sailing Awards with the “She Sails Award” for recognition of my promotion of women in the sport of sailing.
In 2023, I decided to turn my passion for sailing and boats into a career when I joined the Spirit Marine team as a broker. I’m excited to be working with the Beneteau brand, especially with their range of sailing vessels.

I’m Ian Swan, Broker for Spirit Marine QLD, Based on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
35 plus years’ experience in the Australian marine industry have managed some of Australia’s leading marine brokerage companies including Jackson Brothers Marine QLD, Geoff Lovett International and more recently as the Managing Director of Swan Super Lines.
Coming from a military background, serving nine years in the Australian Army with specialist training in water transport. While in water transport, I was seconded to the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) involved in five tours to the Antarctic. Other tours have included the South Pacific, Fiji, Samoa, Norfolk Island as well as training along the extensive Australian coast line. My training afforded formal qualifications in numerous disciplines including: army diver (qualified scuba diver), amphibious craft operator, landing craft crew and jet barge operator.
On leaving the Army, Started a diving recovery company and taught water skiing and paraflying on Queensland’s Gold Coast. It was during this time that I began to establish many contacts within the boating fraternity. Approached by Jackson Brothers at Runaway Bay for sales and boat testing. This evolved over the next 15 years to positions with McLaren Lovett at Marina Mirage and then to Geoff Lovett International as Sales Manager. I worked with Geoff Lovett International for 13 years and parted with Geoff on good terms as i sought to carve our own destiny in the boat brokerage market.
My expertise covers a broad range of marine industry specialities including: new vessel sales; brokerage; dealerships management; charter; marine filming and Australian and Boat show management. A solution focussed approach provides expert advice on deliveries and crew placements, having introduced The Trust and Respect Alliance plus providing instruction in boat handling with practical ‘hands on’ training. Boating is a lifestyle that I am pleased to be a part of and love to share with family and friends.
