Frequently Asked Questions

1. Buying a Boat

How do I order a new boat through Spirit Marine?

Ordering your new boat with Spirit Marine is easy. Once you’ve chosen your preferred model and options, our team will prepare a formal sales contract outlining all specifications, pricing, and estimated delivery times. An initial progress payment is required to secure your production slot, after which we’ll handle all communication with the factory to have your new boat built.

What’s involved in signing a sales contract?

The sales contract confirms your boat order and defines key terms including pricing, inclusions, payment stages, and expected delivery. Once signed and the initial progress payment is received, we’ll submit your build to the manufacturer and confirm your place in the production schedule.

Can I customise the specifications or choose optional extras?

Yes — every Beneteau and imported vessel can be configured to suit your preferences. From engine options and upholstery colours to electronics packages and layout choices, we’ll help you tailor the design to match your lifestyle on the water.

What payment terms and progress payments are required?

Typically, an initial progress payment is required upon signing the contract to secure the build slot, with further progress payments structured around production and delivery milestones. We’ll clearly outline the schedule so you can plan ahead with confidence.

Do you offer finance or insurance assistance?

Yes. We partner with trusted marine finance and insurance providers who specialise in boat ownership, offering competitive rates and flexible packages. We’re happy to introduce you to our recommended partners during the purchase process.

2. Production and Delivery

How long does it take for my boat to be built and delivered?

Production timelines vary depending on the model, specification, and factory schedule. As a guide, most Beneteau models take between 3 to 9 months from order confirmation to arrival in Australia. We’ll provide regular updates and manage the logistics every step of the way.

Where are Beneteau boats manufactured?

Beneteau boats are built in a number of countries in Europe depending on the model. Beneteau is known for advanced construction techniques and exceptional craftsmanship. Each vessel is carefully tested before leaving the factory.

How is the boat shipped to Australia?

Once completed, your boat is prepared for sea freight and shipped to Australia. Spirit Marine coordinates all logistics including export documentation, marine insurance, and customs requirements, ensuring a smooth and secure transit.

What happens when my boat arrives in Brisbane?

When your boat arrives, we manage all customs clearance, biosecurity inspections, and transport to our commissioning facility at Hope Harbour Marina, where final preparation and testing take place before handover.

3. Importation and Registration

Who handles customs, import duties, and GST?

Spirit Marine manages all aspects of the importation process — including freight, duties, GST, and customs paperwork. We ensure full compliance with Australian Border Force and biosecurity regulations.

Do you assist with boat registration in Queensland?

Yes. As part of the sales contract we will register your boat on your behalf prior to handover. We will cover your 1st year's registration.

What documentation will I receive on delivery?

You’ll receive a complete documentation pack, including your builder’s certificate, warranty registration, manuals, compliance plates, service documentation and Bill of Sale.

Is marine insurance required before delivery?

Yes. We recommend having marine insurance in place prior to delivery or launching. Our team can assist by connecting you with reputable marine insurers familiar with imported vessels.

4. Commissioning and Handover

What does “commissioning” mean?

Commissioning is the process of preparing and testing your boat after it arrives in Australia. This includes fitting locally supplied equipment, testing all systems, completing sea trials, and ensuring the vessel meets factory and safety standards.

Where will my boat be commissioned and launched?

Commissioning and sea trials are carried out at our Gold Coast facility located at Hope Harbour Marina. From there, your boat will be prepared for final handover in pristine condition.

Can I be present for the handover?

Of course. We encourage owners to attend their handover day — it’s an exciting milestone! You’ll be personally guided through your new boat, its systems, and operating features.

Will I receive an orientation or training session?

Yes. We provide a detailed orientation session on board, explaining all major systems, controls, and maintenance requirements. For larger boats, we can also arrange a skippered handover or additional training upon request.

5. Warranty and After-Sales Support

What warranty comes with my new Beneteau?

All new Beneteau boats come with the full factory warranty, covering structural, mechanical, and systems components as outlined by the manufacturer. Warranty periods may vary by model and component, and we’ll provide full details upon delivery.

How do I arrange warranty service or maintenance?

Simply contact the Spirit Care at Spirit Marine. We’ll coordinate all warranty claims and maintenance scheduling, working directly with our authorised network and local specialists.

What isn’t covered under the warranty?

The warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, neglect, or unauthorised modifications. We’ll explain these terms clearly at delivery so you know exactly what’s covered.

Can I service my boat with Spirit Marine after purchase?

Yes. Our Spirit Care team provides servicing, detailing, storage solutions, and ongoing support to help keep your boat in peak condition.

6. Pre-Owned and Brokerage Boats

Do you sell or trade used boats?

Yes through our associated company - The Boat Sales Company - we offer a selection of quality pre-owned vessels. We also accept trade-ins towards new purchases, subject to inspection and valuation.

How do brokerage sales work?

The Boat Sales Company handles everything from photography and marketing to negotiations and settlement. They will list your boat on major online platforms and leverage our client network to achieve the best outcome.

7. Factory Rebates and Promotions

We often have exclusive factory rebates or limited-time promotions on selected Beneteau models, particularly during new season launches or special events.

How do I qualify for a factory rebate?

Eligibility typically depends on the model ordered and the timing of your purchase. Our team will confirm if your chosen boat qualifies when you place your order.

Do promotions apply to both new and stock boats?

Some offers apply to new factory orders, while others may be available on in-stock or display boats. We’ll clearly outline all available promotions at the time of enquiry.
